Furniture Disassembly & Reassembly in Orem, Utah
Furniture that was built in the room often can't leave the room in one piece. Bed frames, sectional sofas, L-shaped desks, modular bookshelves, entertainment centers — all of it needs to come apart for transport and go back together at the new place. Our crews do this as part of every full-service move, and we also offer it as a standalone service.
Disassembly: Organized Down to the Last Screw
Every piece of furniture we take apart follows the same protocol. Hardware (bolts, screws, cam locks, dowels, Allen keys) goes into labeled zip-lock bags that get taped directly to the piece they belong to. We photograph complex assemblies before disassembly so reassembly isn't guesswork.
This matters more than people realize. A single missing cam lock can make a bookshelf wobbly. A cross-threaded bolt can strip a pre-drilled hole in particleboard and ruin the piece. Our crews use the right tools — not whatever happens to be in the junk drawer — and they handle each piece knowing it needs to come back together perfectly at the other end.
IKEA, Wayfair, and Flat-Pack Furniture
Flat-pack furniture has specific reassembly challenges. Cam locks and wooden dowels in particle board have limited disassembly cycles — you can only take them apart and put them back together so many times before the holes loosen. Our crews know which IKEA pieces (Malm dressers, Kallax shelves, Hemnes beds) can safely be moved intact and which need careful disassembly.
We also assemble brand-new flat-pack furniture. If you've just moved and have a stack of IKEA boxes waiting, our crew can build them while they're at your place after the unload. It saves you a full weekend of swearing at wordless instruction manuals.
What We Commonly Disassemble and Reassemble
Bed frames (platform beds, sleigh beds, bunk beds, adjustable bases). Dining tables and extensions. Office desks (L-shaped, standing desks with motorized frames, hutch units). Bookshelves and entertainment centers. Outdoor furniture (patio sets, pergola components, gazebo frames). Exercise equipment (treadmills, weight benches, cable machines).
For antique furniture with dovetail joints, mortise-and-tenon construction, or hand-carved elements, we assess during the walkthrough whether disassembly is even advisable. Sometimes the safest move is wrapping it intact and planning the transport route around the furniture's dimensions.
Furniture Assembly FAQ
Do you charge extra for furniture assembly on a full-service move?
No. Disassembly at the origin and reassembly at the destination are included in every full-service move. Our crew will take apart bed frames, tables, desks, and shelves as part of the loading process and put them back together after unloading. It's part of the service, not an add-on.
Can you assemble brand-new furniture that just arrived in boxes?
Yes — we offer standalone assembly for new flat-pack furniture from IKEA, Wayfair, Amazon, Target, or any other retailer. If you're combining it with a move, the crew can build new pieces after unloading. If it's a standalone job, we schedule it separately. Most common: bed frames, desks, and bookshelves.
What if a piece of furniture is too damaged to reassemble?
If we discover during disassembly that a piece has structural damage (stripped holes, cracked panels, broken joints), we'll let you know before proceeding. We won't force a reassembly that would result in an unsafe or unstable piece of furniture. We can often reinforce or repair minor issues on-site, but we'll always get your approval first.
